Biography
Born in Colorado but raised in Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart's first appearance was as a girl waiting for a drink in Thirteenth Year(1999). In her first real role she was playing Patricia Clarkson's daughter in The Safety of Objects(2001). Her next role was a co-starring one as Jodie Foster's diabetic daughter in Panic Room (2002).
Originally, another young actress had been cast when Nicole Kidman was scheduled to play the lead. But when Kidman was injured and had to drop out, Foster took over the part and Stewart (because of her resemblance to Foster) was hired to replace the original young actress. Kristen was nominated for a Young Artist award as Leading Young Actress for her performance in the film.
She has also been nominated twice for the category "Best Performance in a Feature Film - Supporting Young Actress" for the movies Cold Creek Manor and Undertow.
The Panic Room was a box office success, and she was quickly hired to play Kristen, the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone in Cold Creek Manor (2003), followed by the starring role as a girl with a passion for mountain climbing in Catch that Kid (2004). After that, she played Lila in Undertow (October 2004) opposite Dermot Mulroney and Josh Lucas.
She also played Maya in Fierce People, and Lisa in Zathura, which got nominated as best fantasy film by the Saturn Award.
While The Messengers and In the Land of Women are currently in theatres around the world, she is also starring in four upcoming movies: The Cake Eaters, Into the Wild, Yellow Handkerchief and What Just Happened?
